Investment has the future in consideration and has a level of risk involved.<\/p>\n<h2>TYPES OF INVESTMENTS<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Mutual Funds<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mainstreetcapltd.com\/blog\/investing-in-nigeria-series-stock\/\">Stocks<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mainstreetcapltd.com\/blog\/investing-in-nigeria-series-money-market-funds\/\">Money Market Instruments<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mainstreetcapltd.com\/blog\/investing-in-nigeria-series-bonds\/\">Bonds<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_tyd2289   \" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <h3>MUTUAL FUNDS<\/h3>\n<p>A mutual fund is made up of a pool of money collected from many investors to invest in securities like stocks, bonds, money market instruments, and other assets.<\/p>\n<p>Investing in a mutual fund means that you have a part of the portfolio\u2019s value. Investing in a share of a mutual fund is different from investing in shares of a companies stock. Unlike stock, mutual fund shares do not give its holders any voting rights.<\/p>\n<p>One share of a mutual fund represents investments in many different stocks (or other securities) instead of just one holding.<\/p>\n<h4>HOW INVESTORS EARN WITH MUTUAL FUNDS<\/h4>\n<p>Income is earned from dividends on stocks and interest on bonds held in the fund\u2019s portfolio. A fund pays out nearly all of the income it receives over the year to fund owners in the form of a distribution. Funds usually give investors a choice either to receive a check for distributions or to reinvest the earnings and get more shares.<\/p>\n<p>If the fund sells securities that have increased in price, the fund has a capital gain. Most funds also pass on these gains to investors in a distribution. A capital loss is the opposite of a capital gain and this loss is divided between the investors.<\/p>\n<p>If fund holdings increase in price but are not sold by the fund manager, the fund\u2019s shares increase in price.
